Many people already work in health, care, education or community roles with their own particular  qualifications and professional structures. For people in this situation, therapeutic gardening training and experience can be acquired through a combination of formal and informal learning: 'on the job', CPD, online and in-person sessions, networking events, seminars and volunteering sessions at therapeutic gardening projects.

Formal qualifications in horticulture, may also benefit your career in therapeutic gardening.
National colleges in Scotland such as SRUCRBGE provide horticulture courses, whilst local college provision of courses in horticulture alters frequently depending on demand.

Search for colleges providing horticulture courses on the  Grow Careers  web pages and more information on support for careers in horticulture at the Institute of Horticulture .The Institute of Horticulture is also now presenting a series of webinars ( in repsponse to COVID19) on horticulture and related subjects, see https://www.horticulture.org.uk/
